Dr. Andrew Lobb, owner and lead veterinary surgeon at Fourth Street Vet, brings a distinguished career and a deep-rooted connection to the Gawler community. Raised on a nearby stud farm surrounded by racehorses, Dr. Lobb developed a passion for animal care early in life, gaining invaluable experience that would later shape his veterinary career.
His journey into veterinary medicine began in Gawler, where he secured his first job through high school work experience at the former Riverside Vet Surgery. This early exposure to the profession, along with the support and guidance of one of Gawler’s most respected veterinarians, instilled and solidified his commitment to animal health and welfare. Dr. Lobb went on to complete a degree in Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland and a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, along with Honors research in reproductive health from the University of Adelaide.
Throughout his career, Dr. Lobb has gained extensive experience across Australia and internationally. In addition to working in South Australia, Queensland, and Tasmania, he served as the Lead Veterinarian at a busy clinic in London, where he led a team providing comprehensive veterinary care in one of the UK’s busiest regions, treating unique and diverse patients. His leadership extended beyond general practice, as he also held key roles such as Chief Veterinarian at the Animal Welfare League (AWL) in South Australia and Principal Veterinarian and Lead Veterinarian of Canines for the Queensland Government’s Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC).
Now, Dr. Lobb has returned home to Gawler to bring his wealth of expertise back to the community where his career and passion began.
At Fourth Street Vet, he is committed to delivering exceptional veterinary care tailored to the needs of clients and patients alike, drawing on his broad experience across clinical practice and specialized animal welfare roles. His return represents a full-circle moment, combining decades of professional experience with a lifelong dedication to animal health and well-being. Through his work, he strengthens the human-animal bond, enhancing the connection we share with our pets.
